Shirley Mae Tells Her Story…

On Nov. 16, The Courier-Journal will launch a new, live quarterly storytelling series – called Louisville Storytellers – with “Confessions from the Kitchen: Stories from the world of restaurants and food.”

Held at the Victor Jory Theatre at Actors Theatre, the ticketed event will feature some of Louisville’s top chefs from Volare, Roux, The Oakroom, Mayan Café and Majid’s, along with personalities such as “cookie lady” Elizabeth Kizito and the Shirley Mae of Shirley Mae’s Café in Smoketown, all taking the stage to tell revealing and entertaining five-minute stories that touch on love, disaster and redemption.
